ART CLUB

BOOK WORMS CLUB

Purpose:
Book Worms is a fun club for students who love to read.  We bring our favorite book(s)  and connect through our love for reading.

 

Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student who loves to read

 

When Meet:
First Thursday of each month 2:30-3:30, Rm 418

BUILDERS CLUB

Barbara Lidell

 

 

Purpose:
Builders Club is a Kiwanis Service Leadership Program that allows members to learn leadership skills through service. It gives students a chance to make a difference in their community and at school.

 

Who Can Join:
8th grade students

 

When Meet:
During 8th grade lunch, as needed

CHOIR CLUB

Sponsor:
Kathryn Martin
 
Purpose:
To be a member of the School's music program
 
Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student with musical talent and to the desire to learn and perform choral music. It is a year long commitment.
 
When Meet:
Mondays from 2:30 to 3:30. (Another day may also be planned as needed)

CROSS COUNTRY CLUB

Purpose:
To allow students the opportunity to compete in cross country
 
Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student

Monday- Thursday, 4:45-5:30 @ MHS Track during the season

Friends of Rachel (FOR)

Purpose:
To spread the message of Rachel's Challenge through their acts and words of kindness.

 

Who Can Join:
Open to any interested 7th or 8th grade student

 

When Meet:
Thursdays, from 2:30-3:00

Kindness Club

Sponsor:
Melanie Chacon and Julia Wallace

 

Purpose:
 7th and 8th graders who want to make a difference by showing kindness, helping each other, work together to improve school climate, choose to be drug-free, and a support group for students. Our goal is to help students make smart decisions when faced with issues that involve bullying,  drug use, and/or alcohol.  Be the change you wish to see in our school.

 

Who Can Join:
All students are invited to join.

 

When Meet:
every other week, 2:30 to 3:15 Wednesday in Room 204 and Thursday in 415

This is a student led organization that gathers in Christian fellowship.

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY

Natalie Scalia

 

Purpose:
National Junior Honor Society is a service organization.

 

Who Can Join:
8th graders who made a 3.0 GPA each 9 weeks of 7th grade

 

When Meet:
2nd Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted on Mrs. Scalia’s teacher site.

PATRIOT BUDDIES

Sponsor:
Nicolle Guzman

 

Purpose:
The purpose of the club is to form one-on-one friendships between regular education students and special needs students.

 

Who Can Join:
All students that apply are eligible--special needs students and regular education students.  However, there is an application process for the regular education students at the beginning of the school year.

 

When Meet:
Group meetings are held twice a month during the school day usually during 7th grade lunch in the gym.  Sometimes we have guest speakers and we hold the meeting in room 408.  Regular students are expected to meet once a week on their own even if it is just to drop in to say "hello"  or drop off a note to their buddy.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Purpose:
To promote student activities, better the campus, and run the student store

 

Who Can Join:
Any student can join in the fall.

 

When Meet:
Tuesdays, from 2:30-3:30, in room 208
