ART CLUB

To learn about and create amazing artwork for ourselves and the school!

Any student who is interested in learning about, and creating, art!

BOOK WORMS CLUB

Sponsor:
Lisa Bourgeois
 
Purpose:
Book Worms is a fun club for students who love to read.  We bring our favorite book(s)  and connect through our love for reading.

 

Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student who loves to read

 

When Meet:
Every other Thursday, 2:30-3:00, rm 418

BUILDERS CLUB

Sponsor:
Barbara Lidell

 

 

Purpose:
Builders Club is a Kiwanis Service Leadership Program that allows members to learn leadership skills through service. It gives students a chance to make a difference in their community and at school.

 

Who Can Join:
8th grade students

 

When Meet:
Every other Wednesday, 7:00 am, rm 407

CHESS CLUB

Sponsor:
Rhonda Ware
 
Purpose:
To promote the love of chess
 
Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student who has completed a permission slip.
 
When Meet:
12/19, 1/9, 1/23, 2/6, 2/20, 3/5

CHOIR CLUB

Sponsor:
Kathryn Martin
 
Purpose:
To be a member of the School's music program
 
Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student with musical talent and to the desire to learn and perform choral music. It is a year long commitment.
 
When Meet:
Thursdays from 2:30 to 3:30. (Another day may also be planned as needed)

CROSS COUNTRY CLUB

Sponsor:
Anthony Pequeno
 
Purpose:
To allow students the opportunity to compete in cross country
 
Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student
 
When Meet:
Monday- Thursday, 4:45-5:30 @ MHS Track during the season

DRAMA CLUB

Sponsor:
Nicole Barwick

 

Purpose:
To learn acting, improvisation, and musical theatre skills and to collaborate and have fun with others who enjoy theater. Club members will participate in a live performance for an audience in March.

 

Who Can Join:
Any student who has an interest in performing. No previous experience is necessary.

 

When Meet:
Twice a month on Friday afternoons. Please contact Ms. Barwick for upcoming meeting dates.

KINDNESS CLUB

Sponsor:
Melanie Chacon and Julia Wallace

 

Purpose:
 7th and 8th graders who want to make a difference by showing kindness, helping each other, work together to improve school climate, choose to be drug-free, and a support group for students. Our goal is to help students make smart decisions when faced with issues that involve bullying,  drug use, and/or alcohol.  Be the change you wish to see in our school.

 

Who Can Join:
All students are invited to join.

 

When Meet:
January 14, January 28, February 4, February 18, March 10, March 24, April 7, April 21,  May 5 from 2:30 to 3:15

LIFE ON PURPOSE

Purpose:
This is a student led organization that gathers in Christian fellowship.
 
Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student
 
When Meet:
Every Wednesday from 7:00-7:30 am, in Room 404

LOGIC CLUB

Tonya Lagman
 
Purpose:
Want to have fun with other students from MJH while also working on your math skills?  Join the Logic Club.  We will meet to play logic games, discuss math and work on math problems.  Want to improve your grade or just be challenged, then this is the club for you!
 
Who Can Join:
Any 7th or 8th grade student
 
When Meet:
2:35-3:30 ; 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month in room 309

NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY

Sponsor:
Natalie Scalia

 

Purpose:
National Junior Honor Society is a service organization.

 

Who Can Join:
8th graders who made a 3.0 GPA each 9 weeks of 7th grade

 

When Meet:
2nd Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted on the NJHS bulletin board or main page of the MJH website.

PATRIOT BUDDIES

Sponsor:
Nicolle Guzman

 

Purpose:
The purpose of the club is to form one-on-one friendships between regular education students and special needs students.

 

Who Can Join:
All students that apply are eligible--special needs students and regular education students.  However, there is an application process for the regular education students at the beginning of the school year.

 

When Meet:
Group meetings are held twice a month during the school day usually during 7th grade lunch in the gym.  Sometimes we have guest speakers and we hold the meeting in room 408.  Regular students are expected to meet once a week on their own even if it is just to drop in to say "hello"  or drop off a note to their buddy.

PBIS CLUB

Purpose:
To promote positivity at Mandeville Junior High.
 
Who Can Join:
All students are invited to join.
 
When Meet:
Before school on the last Thursday of every month.

STUDENT COUNCIL & THE SAVE PROMISE CLUB

Henry Motty and Sharon Bennett

 

Purpose:
To promote student activities, better the campus, and run the student store

 

Who Can Join:
Any student can join in the fall.

 

When Meet:
Tuesdays, from 2:30-3:30, in room 208
