What is GTT? - Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) offers multiple courses to engage students using a comprehensive, turnkey curriculum based on national standards. All of the courses including the middle school course, Gateway to Technology (GTT), offer students an array of advantages, from career readiness and hands-on learning experience to labs and creative exercises. We set the highest standards for rigorous, focused and engaging study, developing students’ innovative, collaborative, cooperative, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
PLTW's programs are designed to appeal to all students, from those already engaged in STEM-related fields to those who find themselves uninterested in traditional science and math curricula. The courses help students make the critical connection between STEM principles and solving the real challenges in our communities and the world. All PLTW classes are hands-on, based in real-world experience, and engaging for students and teachers. They are most often offered as electives and complement required classes in science and math.
Mandeville Junior High offered its first GTT course in the 2011-2012 school year and added GTT Specialization in the 2013-2014 school year. We are continuing to grow our program and offer GTT 1 each year as well GTT 2 for those students that already completed the first course. The number of sections offered for each course varies based on student interest.
Please contact the GTT instructor, Mrs. Tracey Martinez, if you have any additional questions.
